Siesta!!!!!

The Portuguese have found a key to relieving stress, building solid family ties and ensuring that they get enough sleep. This key is the Siesta. Everything in Portugal shuts down between the hours of noon and three, as everybody return home to eat, sleep and spend time with their families. Entire cities are rendered ghost towns during these hours and the street are completly empty and every shop has doors closed and lights off.

  1. Wow...do I wish America knew the meaning of a Siesta..

Everyone would be so much happier and rested!! This is such a great tradition to have and continue over time. Its hard to imagine everything closing for three hours, but then again I would be home sleeping! I had heard of this, but I glad you wrote about it so now I actually know it's real.. Great post, and I look forward to reading more of your blog!

  2. For anyone who has hit that 2.30pm wall, when only a giant coffee and overdose of sugar will keep you going. We pride ourselves on our work ethic, but can learn a lot about living from the Portugese!
