Most Portuguese have typical Mediterranean features like brown eyes, dark hair, and a height of less than 6 feet.Evidence of the Germanic tribes can still be seen in the north of the country, where taller, light-haired and light eyed people are occasionally encountered.
It can be said that Portuguese people are easy-going, welcoming, and friendly. Although some first may appear sullen and morose to foreigners, they generally are known to be willing to go out of their way to help.
The lifestyle of the urban population is like their counterparts in other European countries, Dressed well and cells phone clamped to their ear. Both rural and urban areas manners tend to be the same, especially in forms of address. When the Portuguese greet each other, they generally expect to be kissed on both cheeks, or exchange handshakes.

Siesta!!!!!
The Portuguese have found a key to relieving stress, building solid family ties and ensuring that they get enough sleep. This key is the Siesta. Everything in Portugal shuts down between the hours of noon and three, as everybody return home to eat, sleep and spend time with their families. Entire cities are rendered ghost towns during these hours and the street are completly empty and every shop has doors closed and lights off.
